Lakes" , analyse the pilot’s decisions and the lessons learned. Then write
a response discussing “what would you have done if you had been the pilot?” (max.
150 words)
Your responses are due next Thursday (April, 18th).

YanıtlaSilIn this experience, pilots have encountered some challenging problembs, but every pilot has such a bad experience in the flight time because this job is so different compare to other other job.In other words, you can not imagine even after a second which means everything suddenly can change.Therefore,you have to not ony handle every problem which occur in the flight time,but also aware of everything.Otherwise,unwanted results can occur.In this experience, pilot made some mistakes.First of all,if I were him,I would not do anything without being sure.Pilot wanted to fly even though the weather was really bad.In my opinion, the pilot made his first mistake here because the weather is one of the most important things for the flight.In other words, you can not ignore weather conditions.I think the second mistake of the pilot is depature time.İf you are pilot , you have to obey the schedule exactly because every regulation is made about time which includes air condition,air traffic, and so on.In this experience,pilot continued to fly although the passengers were late.If I was there instead of this pilot, I would not fly.Another mistake of pilot was whether he should have landed at Jasper County or not.I think I was there instead of this pilot, I would land at Jasper County without doubt. When I read this story, I realized that pilot did not to accept to situation.In other words,during the flight pilot encountered some hard situations ,however instead of taking help , pilot tried to handle situation on his own.In my opinion, if he confessed the problem and alicit ATC'S help,he would not experience such a bad thing.I am sure that if I were him, I would want to help from ATC.
In this happening, the pilot who made a small mistake about the flight program understood that even a small mistake in aviation can cause a big problem. In the news, the pilot did the check list and he planned to fly with his knowledge about the weather using the external pressures. It is needed to depart at 3.30’ he could not depart at that time and he departed at 5 pm because of his girls. This made getting to Gary more problematic because weather could always change, and it should be controlled the necessary times. At the end of the flight he landed on Runway 4, which was covered with six inches of slush ,and it is dangerous, but nobody got injured. This is a big experience in pilotage, and it may happen every time if the pilot is not doing his responsibility at all. If I were this pilot, maybe I can do the same thing, but I should do everything with being sure. If I am not sure what I do about something I do not go on without not to do this thing.
YanıtlaSilThis week ı read the passage about a pilot's experiment.In this passage pilot applied procedures but he had some mistakes.First of all,he checked the weather and forecast before the flight.It is important to check the weather for flight.Although pilot knew that the weather was overcast and rainy,he decided to fly and filed IFR flight plan.If ı were a this pilot,ı would cancel the flight.Secondly,when the weather got worse,pilot decided to land Jasper County Airport and he informed ATC.Then ATC told him in Kankakee the weather was better and suggested to land Kankakee.If ı were a this pilot,ı would ask the ATC's suggestion when the weather got worse and ı would land Kankakee.Actually it is hard to decide truly in some situations like that.I think that you can learn what you should do in bad situations with experience.
YanıtlaSilIf I were the pilot, first I would obey the ATC. Because without doubt ATC has much more than experience than I have. Lots of aircrafts are being guided by ATC everyday. The second thing I would do is planning an exact flight and minimize the changes about flight plan. Because in the air I have limitted opportunities. For example the fuel of the aircraft may finish if I extend the flight time. So I have to use my opportunities carefully. The last thing I would do is concentrating at my work. Probably he was thinking about his girls while flying. If I concentrate at my work less that brings mistakes with itself. That couses unintended results.
YanıtlaSilWe read a text about the mistakes which were done by a pilot. According to the passage, before the flight, pilot checked the weather and then saw that it was overcast. In spite of this situation, he departed. Also he has girls and because of these girls he departed lately, and this would cause serious problems. Because of these mistakes, he had to land another airport which is not avaible for landing. At the end of this situation, nobody had been injured. This experience for the pilot is unforgettable. Also it is really normal and other pilots also can do these mistakes. If I were him, I could do the same mistakes.
YanıtlaSilThis week, we read a passage about the pilotage mistakes. This was a mistake which is done commonly. There was a pilot and he did some mistakes before the flight and the flight time. The first mistake is that he controlled the weather and the weather was overcast. In spite of this he departed.The second mistake is that he should have departed at 3.30 pm but because of his daughters he departed at 5.00 pm. And these mistakes would occur some problems. Because of these wrongs he had to do landing the other place which was not avaible for landing at that time. If I were him, I could do the same thing because these mistakes can occur everytime. The important point is about the pilotage experiences.
YanıtlaSilI cannot begin my words ‘’We read the passage’’ because i was absent in this class.However i want to comment about this pilotage incident.He see the weather overcast. Even so he planned to fly. He shouldn’t have done it. You should trust the ATC. In addition, he suddenly changed his mind without approval ATC and he landed Jasper County Airport. Plus he get late for his girls. We talk about three mistakes but i think this mistakes occur for cockiness. At the end of the story no injury no dead. It’s pleasing for pilot and passengers.

SilIn my opınıon pilot did two big mistakes . Before the flight he checked the wheather condition .Wheather was overcast and temprature was 60 degrees Fahrenheit .So the wheather was not very good but it let the flight .Pilot planned the flight he was supposed to depart at 3,30 pm but he waited to his children and they left the airport about 5,30 pm so he did not obey his own plan. This is the first mistake .Second one is more tragic.When they ready to departure , he did not get the recent wheather information from ATC.İf he got that , he could realize serious theat.Pilot put at risk his children .Fortunately , they achieve landing .Actually this situation was a good lesson for pilot .I am sure that Pilot will be more careful about his next flights .

SilFirst of all, if I were that pilot,I would schedule my flight more carefully.He planned his plane’s take off time at 3.30 pm, but his children did not come on time.He could talk with his ex-wife about importance of punctuality.In this way,his children would not come late.However,he took-off after two hours and the weather was getting worse.Such that weather I would certainly cancel my flight.While flighting there were really strong wind, light rain and also overcast.So,pilot could not see landing area clearly and he passed the airport.If I were his position,I would try to land with help of flight instrument and navigation devices.In that way,I would not miss the airport and I would not have to land the slush area.
YanıtlaSilIn this reading journal , the writer investigates a flight which is delayed . My own opinion is that the pilot which makes the flight, done pilotage failures.Firstly if i were in this situatian, the situation which our captain pilot experienced, i would cancel all the flight because after one and half hour delay i would make a research about weather condition (he did not look for the weather casting after the delay) and i would see that it was a really bad weather to fly.So i would cancel from the beginning.In other situations if i were going to make this flight and if i were not familiar with the area like this pilot i would not risk my children after i saw these bad weather conditions , and like this pilot, i would make a landing to nearest airport which was suggested by ATC.
YanıtlaSilThe pilot made many mistakes. Firstly, If I were the pilot, I wouldn’t fly when the weather was overcast. I would fly in a suitable time for a safe flight. The pilot was late for taking off and he flew in a bad weather condition. He should wait the weather of goodness for flight. Secondly, I could prepare a plan. Then I would apply the plan when I have a possible dangerous situation. Thirdly , the pilot had to obey the directions which are given by ATC because they can think more right and they can have more reliable information about our flight. Pilots’ works are so critical because pilots carry alive people. Therefore, all pilots must be careful and sure when they decide something and they have to pay attention all part of their lives.
YanıtlaSilwhen i read the passege , i was totally shock. How can a pilot make such a mistakes.First of all, he did not check the weather regularly. although he knew that weather is not so good , he persisted in flying. This was a first mistake. Also he delayed flight time two hours for personel reasons which is children's situation. Moreover , he did not communicate with ATC regularly. He wanted to help with ATC and ATC told him that the weather was better at Kankakee, so he accepted the deviation. As you see pilot made several mistakes that i never do :D.
YanıtlaSilFirst of all, if I were this pilot I would never risk my belowed daughters life. Also, in my estimation, flight planning and schedule is totally wrong.For instance how can a pilot delay flight time, I would never let my children be late or if my children were late, I would not insist on flying.In addition, despite all the bad wheather conditions, pilot stubbornly thaught flight. Furthermore, as he confesses at the end of this passage, communication with ATC does not accept mistakens.
YanıtlaSilI think that our life are the most important part of our lives.If I were this pilot,I would never fly because this condition which means bad weather is very dangerous for aviation.If we want to fly or ıf we want to be a pilot,we know all rules about aviation.In my opinion,the first rule is weather.If weather is bad,you wait to return normal condition.For examaple,when a aircraft is takeoff, maybe aircraft's a tire blow out.It is not more important than weather condition.Also,in our school,we see that our school's aircrafts do not fly in winter actually bad weather.So if i were this pilot,i would never fly especially with my child or children.Maybe if a guy points a gun on me,i can fly :).
